100 Mile WalkTwo spirited locals, Graham Jobes and Rebecca Jobes will be walking 100 Miles around Malmesbury and the surrounding villages between Sunday 1st July and Thursday 5th July, in aid of the charities "Hope For Tomorrow" and "CLIC Sargent."

They have written the following message:

Dear Malmesbury.com visitor,

We are posting this to ask if you would be able to support us in our attempt to raise money for the following national charities; Hope For Tomorrow who help to provide mobile chemotherapy units for patients and CLIC Sargent caring for children with cancer and supporting families.

The reason for choosing these good causes is because having experienced all aspects of the illness with my brother in law Neil Brown who sadly died of leukaemia aged just 19 in 1986 and having had to travel to and from hospitals over a 3 year period this makes you realise how important both these charities are.

Besides Neil, Georgie Brock, a close young friend of my daughter also sadly passed away in 2009 due to leukaemia and CLIC Sargent were there to offer support to her and her family.

Twenty five years ago as part of my 25 years of charity work I did a local 100 mile sponsored walk in aid of the Mayors Life Pak 5 Appeal and the Jonathan Love Appeal, walking 20 miles a day for 5 days.

The Mayor in 1987 was councillor Mr Ray Sanderson and Ray’s going to be Mayor again this year. He has chosen to support Hope For Tomorrow through his Mayor’s Appeal. Our aim is to repeat the 100 miles as 25 years ago and support both charities.

Thank you for taking the time to read our post. If there is any way in which you can help us to help cancer sufferers and their families it would be greatly appreciated. Please contact us using the details below.

Yours,

Graham Jobes, Organiser/Walker
Rebecca Jobes, Organiser/Walker
