A man’s shed is most certainly his castle. Malmesbury artist ‘Syd’ has taken this motto to an extreme and made his shed into a modern day oasis of fun for work and play.
Upon hearing of the national ‘Shed of The Year Competition’, (judged by Sarah Beeny no less) the creative juices have flowed over the past month in preparing his Shed ready for election. You can see his Shed on this purpose built website www.thestencilshed.co.uk which has aided his entry into the competition.
The voting for Shed of the Year doesn’t commence until May 21st but the omens have been good so far. ‘Reg’, the owner of the 2010 Shed of the Year (a pirate ship!) has made contact proclaiming his support and a glowing reference.
Help is needed though in order to gather those all important votes with 1800 entries in the completion already. If you’re on Facebook then please visit his purpose built page and ‘like’ http://www.facebook.com/TheStencilShed
Syd has lots of artwork planned, and will be treating his Facebook followers to some nice freebies in the run up to the election. Keep checking back to Malmesbury.com if you’re not on Facebook and we’ll try to keep you updated as things progress. Here’s hoping we can put Malmesbury on the map for sheds!
As a teaser, what do you think about Syd’s take on the current rush for planning consent in Malmesbury?
