The aim of the Friends is that with the aid of donations and subscriptions they can help to maintain and enhance the structure of Malmesbury Abbey. The Friends were responsible for fund-raising for the Abbey floodlights. Trips are arranged to interesting places such as Hereford and Salisbury Cathedrals.

Friends of Malmesbury Abbey is a charity but exempt from registration due to being attached to the PCC who are also exempt.
