The worlds first base jump attempt is 1000 years old this year!

Actually the base jumper also known as 'Eilmer the Monk' fixed wings to his hands and feet and launched himself from the top of Malmesbury Abbey in the year 1010 making it the first recorded attempt at manned flight.

There will be loads of things going on this year to celebrate his valiant efforts, we'll keep you posted here.

We quite like the idea of 'Malmesbury gives you wings' as our slogan but think that it may have already been done...
