WOMAD is determined to allay fears about this year’s festival after news last week its licence had been called in for review by police....WOMAD celebrates 30th anniversary with strongest-ever bill
We’re just a matter of days away from the greatest show on Earth. But it’s not taking place in East London. And it’s got nothing to do with sport. It’s the WOMAD Festival, the annual coming-together of the planet’s music, all gathered right here in Charlton, just outside Malmesbury. But this year, it’s something even extra special. WOMAD music festival faces legal challenge from police
Wiltshire Police are challenging the legality of the licence granted for this year’s WOMAD music festival after failing to reach an agreement over special policing services....WOMAD needs our help
WOMAD appeal to readers of Malmesbury.com: As you may know, WOMAD are in the middle of a dispute with the Wiltshire Police and unless we can rally round and convince the Wiltshire Council that we do not want to lose WOMAD, this year could be the last event. I am sure, having spoken to many, that we, the people of Malmesbury, do not want to be without WOMAD. It not only creates revenue for all the businesses in and around Malmesbury, but it is a fabulous, safe, family event, which most of us enjoy very much.
