Last year saw the ‘foundation’ blocks being laid with the return of Flt Lt Milward from Junior Leaders and the promotion of cadets James Slade and Tomas Talkowski, to the rank of Corporal.

2011 also saw the cadets represented at Wing and Region Rugby by Cadet James McGough and Cadet Benjamin Bassindale gaining a Wing marksman and four cadets gaining their youth First Aid Qualification and four cadets also gaining their BTEC in Aviation Studies.

Twelve cadets completed their Leading Cadet classification with Cadet Bassindale achieving a distinction. There was also success at Senior and Staff levels.

The year also saw a number cadets flying from 3 Air Experience Flight at Colerne on many occasions, some for the first time.

A notable success for the squadron was also the recruit exercise which resulted in seventeen new recruits completing their induction training who will now be starting their First Class classification training.

Flying Officer Jonathan Wakefield said “There is going to be a big push this year on the cadets attaining as much as they can, not only in terms of their classification training, but also First Aid and Duke of Edinburgh.  There will also be a big push to help and be seen in the local community”.
