A pupil at Malmesbury School, 14-year-old Louis was racing the top drivers in Junior TKM (karting) last year. At the prestigious event, which took place January 11 to 14, the top 10 drivers in each class were rewarded for their efforts and Louis enjoyed a moment in the limelight when he receive his No 7 racing plate, trophy and prizes.
The presentation was made by the inspirational Billy Monger, who had a life changing accident whilst racing in formula 4 in 2017 but has since returned to racing in motorsport - for which he himself was awarded a Sports Personality of the Year 2018 award.
Louis first met Billy not long after Billy’s crash, when he visited one of the SuperOne races following his accident. Billy raced in the SuperOne British Karting Championships when he was younger.
“It was an honour to receive the trophy from Billy,” Louis said.
The annual pre-season event at Birmingham covers all areas of motorsport, both professional and grass roots, from karting right up to Formula One.
It features the very latest in motorsport, automotive and performance engineering technology and is attended by the top names in motorsport.
Louis will be competing again this year in the newly rebranded Motorsport UK British Karting Championship where he is hoping to improve on his 2018 results.
Racing at this level requires the continued support of local sponsorship and Louis is currently looking for 2019 sponsors.
