A Chippenham man has been jailed for more than two years after admitting dealing Class A and Class B drugs.

Jake Carter, 21, of Celandine Way, was arrested in March 2020 after police received intelligence from the local community that he was advertising drugs via Snapchat.

When they searched his bedroom they found bags of MDMA, ecstasy and cannabis, as well as other drug dealing paraphernalia.

Carter pleaded guilty to two counts of being concerned in the supply of Class A drugs and two counts of being concerned in the supply of Class B drugs.

He appeared at Swindon Crown Court on Friday and was jailed for a total of 26 months.

Sergeant Rich Marshall, from the neighbourhood team at Chippenham Community Policing Team, said: “We hope this sentence proves that we rely on community intelligence around drug dealing and that if you report your concerns to us then we will take action.

“The case began with members of the public providing information about Carter advertising drugs on Snapchat, and he has now been jailed for his actions.

“We know the harm illegal drugs cause to our communities and we are committed to tackling these issues in Chippenham.

“If you believe you have information about drug dealing, then please do not hesitate to let us know.”

You can report your suspicions by calling 101 or by going on the Wiltshire Police website.
