The community of Malmesbury is being publicly consulted for six hours only, from 2pm to 8pm today. Proposals include:
· A total of 760 new houses prior to 2026 of which:
o 287 will be on new sites (this could be Park Road, Filands or other sites around the town)
o 139 have already been granted planning permission
o 334 have already been built (Malmesbury currently has over 100 unoccupied dwellings)
· 1 Hectare of new employment land (equates to 100m x 100m, or 2.5 acres)
o Wiltshire Council have specified a ‘more flexible approach to allow economic development on the edge of the town’
o Future growth must be balanced with economic development alongside housing at an appropriate scale for self sufficiency
o There may be scope for some ‘convenience’ development
If you do not wish to comment today, that’s fine – you have until 8th August to submit your comments online, directly to Wiltshire Council. Rest assured that we will send out a reminder to get those comments in but in the meantime please do attend today as it will give the clearest possible picture of exactly what Wiltshire Council are proposing for our historic and important town.
Public opinion must be accommodated in the final Core Strategy so YOUR OPINIONS DO COUNT.
