THE SUN shone on Sherston at the weekend as the village staged another sell out music and cider festival.

A host of different acts from local talent to international performers and festival veterans rocked up to entertain the crowd at the village hall field on Friday evening and all Saturday.

Organisers dubbed the event a fantastic success.

Acts ranged from folk and acoustic to rock and disco while workshops were staged for children and a preview session was held on Saturday for pensioners.

And the weather was so promising organisers decided to put extra tickets on the door on Friday night to meet demand.

Committee member Dave Shephard said: “One of the nicest aspects of the weekend is the involvement of pretty much all generations of the village. “There was the seniors preview with free tea, cakes and entertainment for the village’s senior citizens. At the other end of the spectrum the schools Young Voices choir played to a packed audience on the main stage followed by some great bands for everyone else in between.”

He added: “It is a massive effort for a lot of people and there are way too many to thank individually.”

Started three years ago, the festival has sold out for the past two years. Organisers have said they are taking a break in 2015 but have promised “interesting announcements” in the future.

The village is now gearing up for the next major event in its social calendar - the Boules and Carnival. Pistes will be set up in the high street on July 12 and teams from all over the country will battle it out.
