A special meeting has been called to enable the community to hear and discuss proposals from two different supermarkets on their respective plans to develop a new store in or around the town.

EVERYONE is encouraged to come along on 12th October and hear what's being planned.

There will be the opportunity to ask questions and provide feedback, or simply come along and listen.

The meeting will be hosted by the Malmesbury Area Board. Chairman, John Thomson said, "Area Board members believe it is vital that we hold a public meeting at which everyone can attend and has the opportunity to understand what is being proposed, and be well informed to make comments if planning applications are submitted".

Out-of-town superstores are widely considered to have a detrimental effect on the vibrancy and viability of town centres but if there is a genuine need for a new store here in Malmesbury, then finding out what each proposal has to offer is going to be key to providing informed comments, should these proposals turn into planning applications.

The meeting will take place on 12th October at 6.15pm for 6.30pm - please put this date in your diary.

For more information about the meeting, please contact Miranda Gilmour, community area manager for Malmesbury on 01672 515742 or miranda.gilmour@wiltshire.gov.uk
