Cadet-Corporal-James-SladeLocal Malmesbury Air Cadet James Slade (14) is on cloud nine after being promoted to the Rank of Cadet Corporal. Cadet Corporal Slade who has been a cadet for a year and a half, was selected for promotion by demonstrating commitment, dedication and possessing excellent communication skills.

He had also showed initiative by having the foresight to see that the squadrons’ main focus is recruitment and standards. Corporal Slade welcomed the promotion saying “It was a complete shock as I was not expecting it at all.”  He went onto say “It’s good to know that the effort builds up to something and now I can take on more responsibility and show the squadron my full potential.”

Commanding Officer Flt Lt Kerry Milward RAF VR(T) said “Selecting a Corporal is always a difficult task when so many want the privilege of rank and although 992 has many capable individuals, James Slade was chosen for his commitment, dedication and excellent communication skills.  Since first meeting James, it has been clear that he was always going to be a young man capable of responsibility and any challenge thrown at him and for those reasons he has been promoted to Corporal. I welcome him wholeheartedly to the NCO team to be an individual who will work with the team to drive 992 forward.”
