doyles_dolls_launchposterWell, it is finally here. Not 2012 (yet) but the must-have calendar that will take pride of place on many walls in kitchens, offices, garages and garden sheds, not only in Sherston and surrounding villages, but many locations in the UK and internationally!

For several weeks now, willing volunteers have shed many layers of clothing to be photographed for the 2012 Calendar ‘Doyle’s Doll’s. The calendar, which was the brainwave of Lynnie Willetts, comprises 11 beautiful pictures of many of our local ladies and one picture of some of Britain’s finest men (ahem!).

All of these willing models were photographed within Sherston village and surrounding areas over the last few weeks and fortunately were blessed with fine weather. However, one of the village's finest landmarks – the Boules pitch at The Rattlebone Inn - will never look the same again.

The calendars cost £8 each and funds will go to The Mark Doyle Memorial Fund in association with Youth Action Wiltshire; the money raised from the sale of the calendar will go towards purchasing new play equipment for Sherston Rec.

Mark's mum, Sharon Doyle said "It would seem that everyone who took part really enjoyed themselves and we thank them all. Special mention must go to Nick and Pat who took photographs, strategically airbrushed additional material where necessary and organised what was a challenging activity. Thanks are also due to the digital printers, CPC Ltd (from Pinkney), for producing the calendar at a very generous rate. We would also like to thank the many sponsors and generous people who allowed their venues and props to be used and finally everyone in advance who will hopefully buy a copy or two.

All proceeds from the calendar sales will be used to buy children’s/youths’ play equipment in the Sherston recreation ground.

There will be a launch night at the Rattlebone on Friday 4th November from 6.00pm where, along with the local press, you will be able to see the first viewing of the calendar. The calendar will be on sale from that date onwards at Sherston and Luckington Village Shops and at a number of other local venues.

Mark died at the age of 33 in a freak road accident on the way to work. For those who may not have been fortunate enough to have met Mark...Mark was one of the true “good guys” and Mark’s friends described him as one of a kind, warm, gentle, loyal and someone you could turn too whether you needed a shoulder to cry on, a buddy to drink with or just some sound advice!! Mark lived in Sherston and the surrounding villages for the last seven years of his life, Mark truly loved his surroundings and actively participated in all of village life. Mark was a devoted father to Charlie and to George’s bump Fred who arrived 6 months after Mark’s death. Mark had many loves in life, music, teaching, being a father, his immediate family (wife George, mom Sharon, dad Lawrence & sister Sam) plus extended family based in Birmingham, chocolate and the more than the odd drink or too. Mark was also very sporty and fiercely competitive playing football from an early age, a keen water skier, snow boarder always trying to catch air and boule player in the Rattlebone Boule league.

So on behalf of Mark, thank you for enjoying this calendar and all its contents."

The calendar is a true recession busting price of £8.00 + £1.50 post & packaging if applicable (you can always come and collect).
