Over the last year two small local charities with broadly similar aims have been working together and the chemistry seems to be working.

These charities are Elizabeth Hodges Trust (Malmesbury) and Malmesbury Community Trust. The first charity provides educational facilities for often disadvantaged students of all ages whilst the latter is normally slanted to provide assistance to often older people who may have handicaps and other practical difficulties.

Rather than amalgamate the two charities, the trustees feel that there may well be scope for other small charities to get together with Elizabeth Hodges Trust (Malmesbury) and Malmesbury Community Trust to share ideas and issues. For this reason the two charities are to operate under an informal umbrella called Malmesbury Area Charities Together (MACT).

Any charity interested in learning more is asked to attend a meeting at the Town Hall on Monday September 10 at 6.15 pm. This will also be the AGM of the Hodges Trust but this business should be concluded quickly. Nibbles and wine will be provided. If interested, charities should make contact in the first place with Phil Rice on 01666 824007/07979 694981 or by email philrice@lineone.net.
