Anne-Marie Duff, Rafe Spall and Mark Addy will star in the drama which is simply called Salisbury. An air date is yet to be revealed.
According to the BBC, the show will focus on how ordinary people in the city reacted to the unprecedented national crisis triggered by former Russian spy Sergei Skripal and his daughter Yulia being poisoned by Novichok in March 2018.
Salisbury residents Charlie Rowley and Dawn Sturgess fell ill from Novichok poisoning three months later. Ms Sturgess died and Mr Rowley survived with ongoing physical and mental health issues.
Two Wiltshire Police officers were contaminated with the nerve agent while investigating the incidents.
The force won a World Class Policing Award for their response to the poisonings. Judges said the police operation was a "world class, world leading, complex response to one of the significant global events of 2018."
