Devizes butchers donates food boxes to Heals of Malmesbury Featured

Devizes butchers, Walter Rose & Son has provided Malmesbury charity Heals with ten of their top-selling ‘Essential Meat Boxes’.

The butchers, who were finalists in Britain’s Butcher’s Shop of the Year, gave the charity 10 boxes with fresh meat, sausages, bacon, burgers, faggots, organic eggs and milk.

Sponsored by the James Dyson Foundation, Heals then delivered the hearty care packages were then delivered to vulnerable families in the town last week.

Walter Rose & Sons sources its meat from Wiltshire farms and features on the menus of top restaurants – and on TV shows like MasterChef.

The shop is run by fourth-generation brothers Jack and Charlie cook.

Master butcher, Jack Cook said: "Lockdown has hit us hard. But as a family firm and with support from customers and local businesses, we wanted to help other families going through difficult times.

“Calcot & Spa are our customers. We heard about their great emergency meals work with Heals and wanted to help. Heals does so much good work in and around Malmesbury. "

“This is a great boost to local families,” said chair of trustees, Cllr Gavin Grant.

“We know the meals are helping but many are still struggling with school meal vouchers.

“The 10 meat packs will really help. We are very grateful both to the Dyson Foundation for their funding and to Jack and Charlie for thinking of us.”
