The morning began with the Lea Fun Run; a hilly 10K route around the village for only £5 entry with all proceeds donated to CLIC Sargent. Afterwards, the runners were invited to the Rose and Crown for refreshments and fun, as the festival kicked off at lunchtime with a fantastic selection of local bands and artists.
The day’s activities have raised over £1,400 for CLIC Sargent, the highest fundraising amount achieved from the event.
Paul Deacon, one of the event organisers and performers said: “What fantastic quality and variety was offered by the performers, young and old, talented amateur and professional - thank you all for donating your talent and time in support of this important charity.
Great admiration and thanks are due all those 'brave fools' who ran into the sun in support at the fun run. Finally, or nearly finally, enormous thanks go to everyone who came along to show such enthusiastic and generous support.”
Local Fundraising Manager Caroline Marshall said; “MusicaLea is such a fantastic event and a credit to everyone who works so hard to organise it. I’d like to extend a huge thank you and well done to everyone involved, with special mention to Tony, Paul and Ollie.
