A MALMESBURY mum has found herself at the centre of a police probe into an alleged international drug smuggling conspiracy, after customs officers found Class A drugs hidden in a box of dolls.

Swiss national Paola Morrish, of Carnival Close, Malmesbury, appeared before Swindon Magistrates Court on Tuesday (Feb 5) charged with knowingly acquiring Class A drug methamphetimine that had been imported into the country from Mexico.

The 41-year-old mum of one, who has ties to the Central American country, entered no plea to the charges.

Magistrates heard Border Force officers had seized a parcel containing more than 430 dolls at Stansted Airport, Essex.

Morrish was arrested by detectives on Monday. Two other people remain under investigation.

She was remanded in custody to appear before Swindon Crown Court on March 8, when she is expected to enter a plea.
