Competing against fourteen other squadrons, the twelve cadets from 992 (Malmesbury) Squadron Air Training Corps competed in both track and field events winning the following events.

Junior Boys: Cadet Ryan Barsby - Javelin and Discuss, Cadet Oly Pope - 200 Meters and Shot-Put

Junior Girls: Cadet Corporal Rebecca Chapman - 400 Meters, Cadet Poppy Collis - Javelin, Cadet Morgan Sheppard – Shot-Put

This and several strong points finishes in the points, including Cadet Sarah Wiseman who came a very respectable second in her 200 Meter final, enabled the squadron to gain enough points to win the Junior Girls, Junior Boys and Overall Girls titles as well as the overall winner’s trophy.

These six cadets now go on to represent Dorset & Wiltshire Wing at the South West Region Athletics Championships on 8 June.

Flt Lt Kerry Isom Commanding Officer said “I'm very proud of what our unit manages to achieve on a regular basis and winning athletics is once again testament to our cadets competitive spirit. Cadets will now earn their wing blue and go to allow themselves to be selected to represent the south west which is no less than they deserve.
