From Wiltshire to Yorkshire, HEALS is growing.Malmesbury volunteer-led support group HEALS grows across the country as it inspires residents of Cleckheaton, Yorkshire to initiate its own local HEALS group.

HEALS – Help, Encouragement and Support is a new volunteer led, not for profit, community group based in Malmesbury. HEALS aims to help, encourage and support families, single parents, vulnerable individuals, people living on a low income and those feeling isolated and lonely.

HEALS organises a range of activities and events. These offer a chance to come together, make friends, get information, have fun and enable everyone to pass on tips and advice. They are always looking for new ideas for activities and events. They also need ideas to ensure that they can help, encourage and support others.

HEALS values and believes that everyone is important, everyone's voice should be heard, we can all make a difference and everyone should have fair and the best opportunities in life.

HEALS Motto is:

WORKING TOGETHER - CONNECTING PEOPLE - BUILDING COMMUNITY

A new branch of HEALS is being set up in Cleckheaton, Yorkshire. Like Malmesbury, Cleckheaton has a long history. Much of its early history was in textiles. However, like much of West Yorkshire, this industry has now all but vanished. The Town Centre is mainly small independent local shops. A group there has been following HEALS Malmesbury on Facebook and Twitter and have been so impressed by the values, aims and work of HEALS that they have decided to start their own HEALS Group. A spokesperson from the Malmesbury group said “this is wonderful news; it raises Malmesbury’s profile and shows that a lot can be achieved in a small town. It’s exciting times ahead.” A Committee member from Cleckheaton HEALS said we thought that it was wonderful to see a community group embrace diversity in its work.”

HEALS Malmesbury still has vacancies on its Committee. If interested please email heals.malmesbury@gmail.com or go to their website www.heals.btck.co.uk.
