Malmesbury Late Night

Annual evening of Christmas cheer comes to Malmesbury

Friday the 3rd December: This is an annual event in the town where shops traditionally stay open for late night shopping and create a great community atmosphere along the High Street and at the Market Cross.

The event is organised by the Chamber of Commerce and Rotary, who provide Father Christmas and festive music on their traditional float.

Market stalls in the centre of the High Street are manned by local community associations and businesses with a small fairground ride in the Market Cross and the town crier informing all visitors of events.

Free 'Park and Ride' facilities are in operation from Malmesbury Garden centre to Cross Hayes in order to provide extra parking in addition to the two main car parking areas in the town. This will operate from 6pm until 8.30pm courtesy of local firms Andybus and A C Nurden with the garden centre and café open (useful in the case of inclement weather).

The library will have a drop in craft session for children running 6pm to 7.30pm and many establishments will be offering “festive cheer” to share the “spirit of the season” with their customers.

The Upper high St will be closed from 5pm until 9pm in order to set up the event and allow time for closing afterwards.

This event has become a tradition in the town for the retailers on the first Friday in December with a great atmosphere.
