A luxurious penthouse apartment within a historic Jacobean Mansion has gone on the market.

No 18 Charlton Park has gone on the market with the pricetag of £675,000.

The penthouse apartment, complete with roof terrace, overlooks the grounds of Charlton Park House, which on land that once belonged to the Abbey of Malmesbury.

The mansion was built for the Earl of Suffolk and Berkshire in the early 17th century, and the family continue to own and farm the surrounding estates.

In 1975 the property was converted into 19 apartments.

It also boasts two private grass airstrips and began to host the annual WOMAD Charlton Park music festival in 2007.

The property now available includes access to a galleried 'Great Hall' underneath an oval dome, as well as a communal drawing room which has plasterwork attributed to James White.
