Young@Heart offers non invasive screening to assess the health of arteries using pulse wave technology to obtain CASP readings. The only other way this information can be obtained is by an invasive and unpleasant angioplasty procedure undertaken in hospital theatres usually following symptoms of heart malfunction.

CASP stands for Central Aortic Systolic Pressure which measures how stiff the arterial function of the body has become. Young@Heart has invested in a mobile B Pro Pulse Wave Scanner and there are only six machines currently in the UK.

A wrist sensor picks up the arterial pulse wave and provides a measurement which is then compared to the average readings according to age groups to assess the level of elasticity of the arteries.
