Malmesbury Scout Group is open to boys and girls from the ages of 6 to 14, the group consists of the following sections; Beavers aged 6 to 8, meet on Monday evenings. Cubs aged 8 to 10½, meet on Thursday and Friday evenings 6.45 p.m. to 8 p.m. and Scouts are aged 10½ to 14 and meet on Tuesdays evenings 7.30 p.m. to 9 p.m. There is also an Explorer Scout section that runs from Malmesbury for older scouts (14+).
All sections run a varied and wide ranging programme of activities throughout the year from swimming, music, exploring, computing and collecting, to camping, fire lighting, backwoods cooking and survival activities for the older scouts. Each section has a number of challenge and activity badges that the young people can achieve.
The Scout Group only exists due to help of local volunteers, we are always in need of people willing to give a little of their time either to help in the running of the sections, or to help in the running of the group as a whole through the work of the committee or fund raising. We currently are in need of committee members and in particular someone to take over the chair and treasurer positions.
The Scout group is very popular and each section operates a waiting list. Priority for spaces is given to children of section leaders and assistants and members of the committee, then to existing members of the scout group. Please contact us if you would like to put your child on one of the waiting lists or are able to volunteer a little of your time to help run the scout group.
