The Somerfords Garden Club was founded in 1999. It is an interest-based club with a good social side. The Club invites speakers, is affiliated to the RHS, holds an annual show, has day trips to local gardens as well as to RHS gardens or events and runs a 4- or 5-day tour of gardens once a year either in the UK (in 2009 it will be North Wales), or abroad. We also have occasional exchanges with the Garden Club of Gien, in the Loire Valley (in 2010 it is their turn to visit us). There is also a summer lunch and a winter social.
New members from all local villages are most welcome as long as our active membership does not exceed the permitted capacity of the hall, and at present we have room.
With occasional exceptions, our meetings are held on the third Thursday of the month, at 7.30pm in Little Somerford Village Hall, January to June and September to November. Membership is currently £5, due 1st May each year. Non-members interested in listening to any of the talks on our programme need to pay a small entrance fee (usually £1) at the door.
Enquirers can phone 01249 720085, and the 2009 programme will be emailed to them.
